Another day, and another early start for the boys out in sunny Dubai, meet time 7:15 at breakfast. Anticipation was at a peak, with the much hyped venture to yet another world class venue in Sharjah stadium being upon us, 11 o’clock start. Mr Leck sent out an experienced side to play, in a match dubbed the ‘Holiday Inn Derby’, with the Kings Canterbury boys also residing in our hotel. The boys manifested the goals set out after the last match, as we went out to field with remarkable energy and determination, which certainly put the pressure on top order batsmen. A few early wickets from Jack and Waresy were just what the boys deserved for their hard work, 45 for 5 at drinks. The pilgrims of Reigate charged on, and despite a late flourish from the number 9 batsman, the opposition was bowled out for 166 after Rohan caught and bowled on the last play of the innings. The second innings could be summed up in ‘new day, same Ben Ware’ as the opener went on to claim his second fifty in 24 hours, 86 (91). With contributions from Tommy, Rohan and Alex, Waresy went on to lead the team to, what was in the end, a fairly comfortable victory. The lads celebrated in the evening with a trip to the hotel pool, followed by dinner in the Festival City Mall, located adjacent to the hotel. Looking forward to the rest of the tour!
